INFRASTRUCTURE

The County of Mendocino is responsible for approximately 1,018 miles of roadway, including bridges, signage, drainage features, and also operates two airports. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) set aside $27.5 billion nationwide for the Federal Highway Administration Program. These funds are apportioned to the states via an agency formula, California’s share being $2.57 billion. These funds are further split into a 30 percent share for Regional Transportation Planning Agencies (RTPA’s) and 70 percent for the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). For Mendocino County, the RTPA is the Mendocino Council of Governments (MCOG). The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) also administers $7.22 billion in ARRA funding nationwide and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) oversees $1.3 billion in stimulus funding. To date, these three sources of ARRA funding have disbursed $2,934,550.00 in stimulus funds to the County of Mendocino.
