Full ALA State of the Air 2015 Report
"Cleanest Counties"
The American Lung Association (ALA) ranks Mendocino County among the “Cleanest Counties” in the country for particle and ozone air pollution.
Mendocino County received a grade A for having zero high ozone days between the years 2011 and 2013 in the American Lung Association’s 2015 State of the Air report.
The county is one of 8 counties in California listed with an “A” rating for Particle pollution (PM2.5) and one of 11 counties with an “A” rating for Ozone pollution.
Unclean Air for most in California
The American Lung Association stated that more than 70% of residents in California live in counties with unclean air. Although statewide air quality continues to improve, over 28 million Californians live in counties that have a failing air quality grade for the years 2011-2013. Additionally, the ALA 2015 report cites that 44% of the people in the U.S. live in counties that have unhealthy levels of Ozone, Particles, or both.
According to this year’s report, Los Angeles remains as the metropolitan area with the worst ozone pollution.
