HHSA Advisory Board

The Mendocino County HHSA Advisory Board was formed in September 15, 2009, as part of the integration of departments creating the Mendocino County Health and Human Services Agency. This Board, appointed by the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors, is a body of community members working together to support and advise the Director of the Health and Human Services Agency and the Board Supervisors.
Mission of the Advisory Board:
To advise the Health and Human Services Agency and Board of Supervisors ... in order to:
- Promote health and wellness;
- Promote individual & community responsibility for health;
- Reduce environmental health hazards;
- Facilitate coordination and integration of community services;
- Support and empower individuals and families to live healthy, safe and sustainable lives;
- Educate the community on current and emerging health and social services issues;

Meetings
General Meetings
The Advisory Board general meetings are held the fourth Wednesday of each month, except for a combined November/December meeting held on the first Wednesday of December.

Executive Committee
The Executive Committee meets the Tuesday of the week prior to the scheduled general meeting.

Membership
There are 21 possible representative members on the Board. They include:
- 6 members representing the communities served by the HHSA :
- 2 each from each branch – Adult System of Care, Children & Family System of Care, and Community Health Services.
- 5 members representing the Board of Supervisors:
- 1 each from each district appointed by each of the District Supervisors and representative of that district (lives, works in, or is otherwise knowledgeable of the districts interests)
- 3 members, 1 each representative of the following community partners:
- Law Enforcement
- Mendocino/Lake Medical Society
- Education
- 7 Community members representing various economic, geographic, ethnic, environmental, cultural, occupational, and age groups.
